A fantastic result for the Novices at Mevagissey yesterday, in a race where only 2 novice rowers are required in a boat, Fowey’s next generation of champs decided to take a chance but sticking with the crew as they had trained since just before Scillies 2016. Entering six novices into a race was a big risk, up against boats which could potentially contain four experienced rowers was going to be tough but everyone was confidant seeing their power and skill during training.
Novice Crew During a Recent Training Session:
On the day the crew were pumped up and ready for the race:
Preparing to set off:
After a quick radio handover with Ladies C (also containing some Novices)
Nervous and poised the crews started to line up at the start, the crew waited for their moment, in Lantic our wooden boat.
And what a fantastic result, 3rd place and thank you to “Pinger” for coxing.
A tired crew, ecstatic after such a great result, well done to all, and thank-you to Mevagissey for hosting a great day and including a Novice race for our team to complete in.
And lets not forget to say well done to all the other crews that took part, another great win for the Under 14s, Under 16s 2nd, Mens A was 2nd, Ladies B 4th, Ladies A 5th, Ladies C (with Novices) 5th, Ladies Vets 7th, Mens B 12th. No crews entered into the Mens Vets & Mixed which results in a the crew coming automatically last place equally the total number of clubs entered, which is 18.
